As adoption of the AI Powered Chatbot for WordPress plugins continues to grow, I’ve been asked the most fascinating questions.
For example, today I was asked if the plugin would work with Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service models. The answer is a qualified yes – in theory. The person asking the question thought that the only thing that might need to change is the API end point. In practice, there’s probably more to change than just the URL to the end point.
So, I answered their inquiry with a qualified yes and suggested a one-line change to the source code and asked them to give it a try. Since I don’t have a Microsoft Azure account (yet!) I can’t test this out for them. I’ll have to wait to hear back if there was success, even limited success.
Accessing other Large Language Models (LLMs) has been on my development roadmap from the beginning. I’ve been interested in gaining access to Anthropic’s API since they introduced Claude. Now I’m going to add access to Microsoft’s Azure AI to the list.
The interactions I’ve had with the WordPress community have been a source of immense joy for me. The enthusiasm and engagement of the community have been fascinating and intriguing, particularly as I observe them applying the plugin to achieve real, tangible objectives. Seeing how they utilize the plugin I’ve built in various innovative ways is not only deeply satisfying and a thrilling rush.
It’s inspiring to see the practical applications of my work come to life, solving real problems, and facilitating creative projects. This experience has not only fostered a sense of connection with the community but has also been a powerful motivator, driving me to continue refining and enhancing my work. It underscores the impact that one can have on others and the transformative power of technology when it’s harnessed by a creative and active community.
This journey with the WordPress community is a continual learning process, filled with valuable lessons and insights fueled by collaborative growth, making every interaction a rewarding and enriching experience.
I am also curious about some of the feedback I’ve received after the plugin has been deactivated. For a while I had a deactivation form where I asked about their reasons for deactivation. It included selection like it didn’t work, found a better plugin, no longer needed, and a couple of other options.
Most often I receive feedback that states the plugin didn’t work without any further explanation. I have theories as to why and have applied fixed in subsequent releases. I even went so far as to send follow-up emails apologizing that it didn’t work for them and asking for any additional information that might help in resolving the problem. However, I’ve received little to no feedback from this follow-up. But, that’s ok.
