Today I learned that AI Powered Chatbot for WordPress has achieved 700-plus active installs. It has been ten- and one-half months since version 1.0.0 was approved for inclusion in the WordPress Plugin Directory in late March of 2023.
I’ve watched the number of active installs achieve 100-plus within 10 days of initial release on or about the first of April 2023. Then the long wait. It was nearly six months before the number of active installs reached 200-plus on October 1, 2023. It was a shorter wait of only 40 days to achieve 400-plus active installs. Then just after Christmas 2023 the number of active installs reached 500-plus. Followed by six days to hit 600 and 10 days to hit 700.
My hope was that I would have achieved 1,000-plus active installs by the end of 2023 for the chatbot. Well, I missed that goal by 50 percent. Perhaps I’ll achieve it on the one year anniversary after launching the plugin in April 2024.
And you know what, I’m ok with that.
The last ten months have given me the space and time to improve the plugin. If the growth had been any faster, I’m not sure that I would have been able to work out all the kinks in the plugin.
The feedback from the WordPress community has been amazing. They’ve been helpful by letting me know when the plugin didn’t work as expected. They have also asked for enhancements and improvements which have influenced the development roadmap for the plugin.
And, I truly grateful for the feedback and for the support of the community.
When I started on this journey I didn’t know if anyone would be interested in the plugin. The world was buzzing about artificial intelligence and ChatGPT in December of 2022. I’ve been interested in AI throughout my career, starting with decision support systems way back in the late 1980’s. And today I’ve designed and built a plugin that leverages this rapidly advancing technology.

That last paragraph was written by ChatGPT. I asked my GPT Assistant to describe itself in simple terms. I think it’s a pretty accurate description. Pretty cool, don’t you think? Of course, the GPT Assistant summarized all the documents that provided, from the readme.txt file to FAQs I’ve collected over the last few months.
So, to wrap this up. All I can say is how exciting this journey is. Each day brings new challenges but also exciting developments.
